1

What is child development screening?

Child development screening is an early observation process that helps identify whether a child may need further assessment or developmental support. It is not a diagnosis.

2

What areas are checked during assessment?

Depending on the concern, the team may look at communication, language, attention, social interaction, play skills, motor skills, sensory processing, behaviour and learning readiness.

3

What happens after screening or assessment?

Parents may receive guidance on the child strengths, areas of concern and recommended next steps, such as therapy, early intervention, school readiness or further professional assessment.
